Alphagan P (Generic name: Brimonidine Tartrate ophthalmic solution) is a new formulation used for the lowering of intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension (high pressure inside the eye). Brimonidine Tartrate 0.15% works better by lowering the amount of fluid inside your eyes and also helps the eyes drain fluid more effectively. Lowering high fluid pressure in the eye reduces the risk of vision loss, nerve damage, or blindness. Follow the directions on your Alphagan P prescription label carefully, and use Alphagan P ophthalmic exactly as it was prescribed.

Alphagan P Side Effects:

The most common Alphagan P eye drops side effects include blurred vision, drowsiness, dry eyes, headache, burning and stinging of the eye. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as anxiety, eye pain, muscle pain, nasal dryness, sensitivity to light, stomach discomfort, vision changes, and serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Alphagan P Precautions:

Do NOT use Alphagan P drops if you are allergic to Brimonidine or any of the ingredients in Alphagan P medication. Do NOT use Alphagan P ophthalmic if you have had any medical conditions such as circulation problems, depression, diabetes, heart problems, high blood pressure, liver or kidney disease.
