Axid Information

Axid (Nizatidine) is used to treat stomach and intestinal ulcers and prevent them from returning after they have healed. Intestinal ulcers are sores that develop on the lining of the stomach. It occurs when there is an imbalance between the digestive juices the stomach produces. Ulcers can cause bleeding, vomiting, appetite changes, and unexplained weight loss. Axid also treats certain stomach and throat problems like erosive esophagitis and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). H2 antagonists like Nizatidine work by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach produces. This reduces the pain from the ulcers and heartburn.
