Bactrim (Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim) is an antibiotic used to treat infections, including ear infections, urinary tract infections, bronchitis, traveller’s diarrhea, shigellosis, and certain types of pneumonia. Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant during treatment. Bactrim should not be used in children younger than 2 months. To make sure Bactrim is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, anemia, or low blood platelets. Tell your doctor about any other medications you are currently using. Take this medication for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection if fully cleared.
