Lotriderm Information

Lotriderm (betamethasone/clotrimazole) is a topical cream used for treating itchy, inflamed skin rashes caused by certain types of fungus. Lotriderm belongs to the class of medication called Topical steroids with anti-infectives. Cotrimazole works by killing fungus, and preventing its growth, while betamethasone, which is a corticosteroid (cortisone-like medicine or steroid), helps relieve redness, swelling, itching, and other discomfort of fungus infections.

Lotriderm Side Effects

Common side effects of Lotriderm include:
• Acne outbreaks with skin redness;
• Blistering, stinging, itching, peeling, redness, swelling or other signs of skin irritation not present before use of this medication;
• Excessive hair growth;
• Numbness of hands and feet;
• Patches of lighter skin tone;
• Skin rash;
• Skin redness around the mouth

Contact your doctor immediately if any of these adverse effects occur:
• Blurred vision;
• Hives;

Lotriderm Precautions

Do not take Lotriderm if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients. Inform your doctor of any other medications you take including prescription medication, over the counter drugs, vitamins and herbal supplements, to avoid any negative interactions between drugs. Tell your doctor if you take:
• Aldesleukin;
• Other topical medications containing corticosteroids;
• Sirolimus;
• Tacrolimus;
• Topical medications that have irritating effects

Inform your doctor of your previous medical history or if you have:
• Other skin conditions;
• Reduced blood circulation;
• Stasis dermatitis

Do not use this medication if you are pregnant this medication may harm an unborn child, contact your doctor immediately if you become pregnant. It is unknown if this medication can pass into breastmilk, it can harm a nursing child; inform your physician before breastfeeding your child.
