Micardis HCT (Generic name: Telmisartan Hydrochlorothiazide) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Micardis HCT is a combination of two medications: Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. Telmisartan belongs to a class of drugs called Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers. It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels, causing them to widen. Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a family of medications known as diuretics or "water pills" and helps control blood pressure by removing excess salt and water. Micardis HCT Side Effects:

The most common Micardis HCT side effects are back pain, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, insomnia, joint pain, sinus inflammation, and upper respiratory infection.
