Podofilox (generic name: Podofilox or PPT, also known as Wartec) is a topical solution used in the treatment of external genital warts caused by HPV (human papillomavirus – that which causes many cases of cervical cancer). As well as its usefulness as an antiviral agent Podofilox also has an anti-parasitic, a skin blistering and possible anti-tumour action. Podofilox is not a cure for genital warts which are a symptom of HPV infection.
