New Research For Potential Malaria Vaccine Treatment

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

Malaria is thought to be responsible for almost a million deaths annually with most of the deaths occurring in under fives in Africa.

But there is some potentially great news, as it has been broadcast that new research is to be undertaken to stop the parasites responsible for causing malaria from entering the body. The research will be carried out by three worldwide leaders in malaria research: Merck also called MSD, PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative and NYU Langone Medical Center. They will team up to develop a way to target a certain protein on the malarial parasites.

The protein which they are evaluating is thought to be a possible breakthrough which may help to develop better treatments for early phases of malaria. The researchers believe that a new method which hinders a critical function of the protein can prevent the parasites from entering the liver, a necessary action in the cause of malaria.

Information About The New Malaria Vaccine
A professor from NYU stated that they believe that they can improve the design of existing vaccines by intentionally affecting the function of the protein. The motivation for pursuing this process derives from the understanding of the vaccine technology in addition to the targeting of a specific protein known to induce a reaction from the immune system in patients with malaria.

Dr John Shiver from Merck reiterated his belief in vaccinations against disease. He also said that he believes the continued research in the combat against the parasites that cause malaria. A spokesperson from PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative said that he trusts that with the new vaccine just around the corner, there is potential for even more efficient treatments which will save more lives.

The new vaccine treatment is firstly being tested primarily in infants less than a year old, and it is thought that it will be employed to aid the prevention of malaria across the globe to people who are at risk of the most harmful type of malaria parasite, and could later prevent other types of malaria also.

Drugs Available From Canadian Pharmacies Online
Current vaccinations and medications are available from Canadian pharmacies online, including Quinine Sulfate tablet, an RX drug designed to fight malaria caused by the toxoplasma parasite. If you need any information on anti malaria medications that you wish to purchase, this can be obtained by contacting the online drug supplier who have qualified pharmacists that can give you the information that you require.

Islet Transplantation Eliminates the Need for Insulin Injections

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

Islet cells are sugar-sensing cells in the pancreas that release insulin in order to maintain normal blood sugar levels in the body. In type 1 diabetes, the cells can no longer make insulin because the body’s immune system has destroyed them. Type 1 diabetics must take daily insulin injections, usually a complex combination of short and long acting insulin. (more…)

Bacterial Infections Could Resist Antibiotics If Overused

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

Bacterial infection are when the single cell bacteria multiplies. When this happens the bacteria can induce an overpowering reaction from the immune system which can be damaging to other cells, or the bacteria can attack other cells completely wiping them out. When a bacterial infection occurs doctors usually prescribe antibiotics.

Antibiotics are widely available from online Canadian pharmacies with a valid RX, and there are a range of generic antibiotics available which cost much less than their patented or branded competitors.

The problem is though, that over time the bacteria that cause infections in humans have become more and more resistant to the drugs. Because of this alarming discovery, scientists and researchers are now trying to develop new antibiotics in order to continue to fight the bacteria.

Evolution Is Partly Responsible For Resistance

The way that antibiotics work is that they kill out the bacteria responsible for causing infection, and by stopping the migration of bacteria within the body. However it appears that the bacteria have evolved to an extent that they are no longer affected so much by the antibiotics.

This developed resistance is an evolutionary progression which has come about because excess use of antibiotic drugs, and bacterial infections becoming more common. The bacteria carry on multiplying without an efficient drug, and this has caused bacterial infections to become a modern day problem.

Research Into New Antibiotics

A way to continue the fight against the bacteria is to find new RX drugs or antibiotics.

Researchers are now developing new types of antibiotic drugs to combat bacterial infections, with AMPs (antimicrobial peptides), which are small sequences of amino acids which can destroy bacteria. The problem that the researchers have been facing is that AMPs live for a short period of time once released into the body. However, they are now developing a method meaning that AMPs can be ingested safely, which is a groundbreaking discovery in the battle against bacterial resistance to the drugs available today.

Antibiotics Available From Online Canadian Pharmacies

As previously mentioned, online Canadian pharmacies have a wide range of antibiotics medications available, which can be purchased with a valid RX from your doctor. The antibiotics prescribed are dependent on the illness or infection that you have, which will be determined by your doctor and a prescription issued allowing you to buy mail order drugs conveniently over the internet. Big Mountain Drugs are a large online pharmacy who also has physic brick pharmacies in Canada, who offer the best prices and a unique reward scheme for regular customers.

The drugs available from the online Canada pharmacy are varied, with both patented or branded as well as generic drugs available.

What Exactly Is Cancer And How Can RX Drugs Help?

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

What is Cancer?
Cancer is the term used to describe uncontrolled cell growth. Cancer can strike almost anywhere in the human body because every part and every organ is made from millions of cells. The division and development of cells is an extremely delicate procedure and any interruption in the process can cause an abnormal level of cell growth. If the growth becomes very large it is called a tumour..

Benign and malignant are the two types of cancerous tumours. The benign type is safe and does not cause harm to the patient or spread, and they can easily be removed. Malignant tumours are often serious and can spread to other organs and body parts, and if left untreated are generally fatal. The malignant type is what the term cancer generally refers to.

What Are The Causes Of Cancer?
No one really knows what the causes of cancer are, although scientists, doctors and specialists have a good idea of things that increase the risk of cancer. The risks known today include things like viruses and exposure to substances known as carcinogens. A report published in 2002 suggested that as many as one fifth of cancer cases were caused by viruses. (more…)
