Generic Medicines and Coupons Provide Dual Savings from Big Mountain Drugs

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Big Mountain Drugs, one of the leading Canadian pharmacies found online, has announced a spring special on generic medicines. Customers will be able to save on their medications in two ways this spring: by choosing generic medications and using discount coupons. Big Mountain Drugs has partnered with leading coupon website OnlinePharmacyCoupons.com to offer huge savings on your prescription. Visit them online to see if a coupon is available for your specific medication. You can also call in, or order online, using the coupon code generic10. Current coupons include discounts for generic Lexapro, generic Singulair, generic Plavix, and other popular generic products.

Generic medications are one of the quickest ways to save on your prescriptions. Many people don’t realize that a generic medication is chemically and therapeutically the same as the brand name version. A generic is simply a medication with an expired patent. The company that originally researched and developed the drug patented the product, but there is a limit on patent length. Once that time has ended, other manufacturers are able to produce the generic version for less, and therefore sell it for less. For example, a three month supply of AstraZeneca’s Crestor, a leading cholesterol-lowering medication, costs more than twice as much as its generic alternative, rosuvastatin. Knowledgeable patients can take advantage of savings such as these, and Big Mountain Drugs has just made it even easier to save.

By combining one of the OnlinePharmacyCoupons.com’s many coupons with your prescription, and opting for the generic alternative, patients and doctors could pay hundreds of dollars less than they expected. As another way to save, Big Mountain Drugs is also proud to offer the Big Mountain Rewards Program, which gives every customer 5% of their order price back on their next order. Therefore, on an order of $100.00, a customer would have $5.00 taken off of their next prescription refill, or other order from Big Mountain Drugs. Big Mountain Drugs is the only online pharmacy currently offering such savings. The Big Mountain Rewards program is one more reason that Big Mountain Drugs boasts over 200,000 repeat customers every year, and one of the most loyal customer bases in their field.

Big Mountain Drugs, an online pharmacy based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, offers certified Canadian pharmacy care at lowered prices. Their mission is to provide safe and reliable medications to their customers. The Canadian pharmacy also partners with sites such as http://www.buypirfenidone.com to provide the most up-to-date information on available medications; both brand name and generic alternatives. Big Mountain Drugs offers well-known brand-name and generic medications such as generic Crestor, Lipitor, Seroquel and Viagra. Big Mountain Drugs specializes in speedy, secure prescription deliveries right to you. They accept prescription and over the counter orders through fax, online orders, and over the phone. Big Mountain Pharmacy Declares No Need to Wait for Lower-Priced Generic Medications

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

The Canadian pharmacy Big Mountain Drugs wants American consumers to know that they don’t have to wait until their medications go generic in the US to save money on prescription drugs. The cholesterol-lowering drug Lipitor and the blood pressure medication Caduet are already available as generics in Canada. Gout sufferers should take note that generic colchicine, no longer available in the US, is still available through an online Canadian pharmacy.

Drug companies are granted “patents” on new drugs they discover or invent, which gives them a monopoly on sales of the drug for up to 20 years in order to recoup their investment in research and development. Once the patent expires, other drug companies are free to make “generic” versions of the drug. Generic versions of name brand drugs are chemically identical, although they may look different.

Because the company making the generic did not have to invest in developing the drug, generic drugs are priced considerably lower than their name brand predecessors. The first company to make the generic drug is generally granted a six-month monopoly. When the generic monopoly expires and other drug makers enter the market with their generic medication, the cost of the drug goes down even more.

BigMountainDrugs.com is an accredited online Canadian pharmacy licensed in the province of British Columbia. The Canadian government allows Canadian drug manufacturers to produce cheaper generic drugs sooner than in the US. Canada also regulates Canadian drug prices, and prohibits pharmaceutical companies from conducting costly direct- to-consumer advertising, further lowering the cost of Canadian drugs. Online Canadian pharmacies pass these savings on to their American customers.

American patients don’t have long to wait until the US patents expire on a number of top-selling drugs, including the cholesterol-lowering drug Lipitor, the blood thinner Plavix, and the blood pressure medication Caduet. The antidepressant Lexapro, the antipsychotics Seroquel and Geodon, the diabetes medication Avandia, and the asthma medication Singulair are among the popular prescription medications not scheduled to become available as generics in the US until 2012.

In the meantime, generic versions of all of these prescription medications are available through online Canadian pharmacies, with a valid prescription. Big Mountain Drug’s mission is to supply consumers with safe, reliable and inexpensive prescription medications. BigMountainDrugs.com can not only fill orders for prescription drugs from Canada, it can also source generic versions of popular drugs from quality manufacturers overseas, and have them shipped directly to their American customers.

Generic Cancer Drugs Scarcity in Canadian Pharmacy Causes Panic

Friday, August 26th, 2011

From mdkiteman

The medical fraternity has raised a great hue and cry about the shortage of generic cancer drugs in the market. The situation is alarming as 14 of the 34 generic cancer drugs being sold in the month of August 2011 is in short supply. A Canadian pharmacy has also felt vibrations and is forced to make several adjustments to keep up with the shortage creeping into its stock as well.

Generic cancer drugs were introduced and given importance to bring the cost of medication down to a reasonable level. It was regulated at an average of around $3 per dose, which was quite reasonable as compared to branded drugs doctors are now forced to prescribe. In some cases, the price of a branded cancer drug could go over 100 times the cost compared to generic drugs before the shortage came in. (more…)

Healthier Life Improves Cholesterol

Proper control over blood pressure and cholesterol levels has reduced the risk of getting heart attacks in the UK by 74% over the last 20 years, which goes to prove drugs such as generic Atorvastatin that reduce cholesterol levels effectively will also help prevent cardiovascular disease.

The Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) conducted a study on cholesterol, and the data collected from 2007 to 2009 indicated that 41% of Canadians are affected by high cholesterol. Blood samples were collected from participants, and different types of liquids were measured including cholesterol and triglycerides. It is found that the level of cholesterol increases with age. For example, adults between the ages of 20 to 39 accounted for 27% of people with high total cholesterol levels, while it drastically increased to 54% for people between the ages of 60 to 79.

Generic Drug Sales Via Online Pharmacies Expected To Increase

Friday, October 8th, 2010

An analyst speaking for Credit Suisse, a global financial services company, has said that they believe that the generic drug manufacturers will do very well over the next few years as many branded drugs are losing their patents, allowing for other manufacturers to produce the drugs.

Many online Canadian pharmacies sell a range of generic RX drugs, and we can expect to see the variety of low costs prescription drugs growing. (more…)
