Diabetes sufferers often experience other complications in the body caused by their diabetes. One of the complications that may arise is diabetic retinothapy, which is also known as diabetic blindness.
The Symptoms of Diabetic Retinopathy
High blood glucose levels can often cause damage to the blood vessels that supply oxygen and chemicals to the retina in the eye if diabetics do not manage their condition sufficiently. Diabetic retinopathy is the name given to the condition when the blood vessels to the retina thin due to the wall of the vessels becoming thicker. A common symptom that might be noticed by a patient is a change in sight caused by liquid seeping into the retina.
