Activella Information

Activella is a medication that contains 2 female hormones: an estrogen and a progestin. Activella is used by females to help decrease symptoms of menopause (hot flashes, vaginal dryness). Symptoms of menopause occur due to a lack of estrogen in the body. Estrogen and progestin in this medication can help reduce the risk of cancer of the uterus which can be caused by using estrogen. Women who have had their uterus removed do not need to take this combination medication. This medication can also be used by women to prevent bone loss (osteoporosis) after menopause, although there are other medications that alleviate symptoms of menopause that may be safer. Activella is to be taken orally with or without food, once daily.
