Flovent Information:

Flovent (Generic name: Fluticasone Propionate) is a prescription medication used to prevent bronchial asthma attacks. Flovent is a corticosteroid. It works by reducing inflammatory reactions in the airways in response to allergens and irritants in the air. If an asthma attack occurs, use Flovent inhaler as prescribed.

Flovent can be also used for feline asthma treatment – chronic bronchitis in cats and dogs. Follow your veterinarian’s instructions on how to administer Flovent to your pet.

Flovent Side Effects:

The most common Flovent side effects include cough, dryness, headache, hoarseness, loss of appetite, runny nose, tiredness, and etc. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as blurred vision, breathing problems, chest pain, numbness, signs of infections, weakness, worsening asthma symptoms or symptoms of a serious allergic reactions (e.g., difficult breathing, itching, rash, swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

There have been no serious demonstrated side-effects in pets given Flovent feline. Consult with your veterinarian about giving your cat Flovent if your pet has heart disease. Some pets may cough after being given the medication, but only in the first few weeks after beginning use.

Flovent Precautions:

Do NOT use Flovent inhaler to treat asthma attack that has already begun. Do NOT use Flovent HFA if you are allergic to Fluticasone or any of the ingredients in Flovent medication. Before using Flovent HFA, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as allergies, bronchiectasis, eye disease, infections, kidney or liver disease, tuberculosis. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions or over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Flovent diskus, especially of: antibiotics, antidepressant, antifungal, heart or blood pressure medications, HIV/AIDs medicines, oral corticosteroids.
