Ziana (Clindamycin phosphate/Tretinoin) is a topical medication used to teat severe acne in adults and children over the age of 12 years old. Ziana contains two medications, Clindamycin and Tretinoin. Clindamycin is an antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacteria protein synthesis, preventing the bacteria from growing, replicating, and surviving. Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A that reduces the amount of oil released by oil glands in your skin, helping your skin renew itself more quickly. You should not use Ziana if you are allergic to Clindamycin or Tretinoin, if you have inflammation of your intestines, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, or if you have ever had severe diarrhea caused by an antibiotic medication. Take this medication as directed. Do not use this medication in smaller or larger amounts, or for longer than recommended. While using Ziana, you may experience some mild skin irritation and redness.
