Apriso Information:

Apriso (Generic name: Mesalamine Extended Release Capsules) is an approved prescription medication for the management of ulcerative colitis (UC – a bowel disease) in patients 18 years and older. Apriso is the FIRST Mesalamine product in extended-release capsule form for once-a-day oral administration. Mesalamine is also used for treatment and prevention ulcerative colitis, proctitis, and proctosigmoiditis. It does not cure ulcerative colitis but prevent the symptoms of UC from recurring. Take Apriso exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Apriso Side Effects:

The most common Apriso side effects are abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, flu symptoms, gas, headache, nausea, and tiredness. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as confusing, easily bruising, fainting, fever, loss of hearing, stomach bleeding, and a sign of serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Apriso Precautions:

Do NOT take Apriso oral if you are allergic to Mesalamine or any of the ingredients in Apriso medication. Before taking Apriso capsules, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as allergies to Azulfidine, congestive heart failure, hepatitis, kidney or liver disease, pancreas problems, pyloric stenosis, and etc. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Apriso drug, especially of: antibiotics/antiviral, aspirin, cancer medications, certain diabetic medications, digoxin, NSAIDs, and warfarin.
