Clindasol 1% Cream Information:

Clindasol, or its generic form clindamycin is a prescription drug used to treat mild to severe acne. It is a topically applied cream that, when absorbed through the skin, kills the acne-causing bacteria. Clindamycin does this by hindering the protein synthesis of the bacteria, making it unable to reproduce.

Clindasol 1% Cream Side Effects:

The most common side effect of topically-applied Clindasol and generic clindamycin is oiliness of the skin. Topically applied clindamycin can have adverse side effects including mild to moderate skin irritation such as burning or itching, peeling or dryness, oiliness, erythema (a reddening of the skin, similar to a blush) and stinging upon application diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, and colitis. If persistent bloody diarrhea occurs, stop use of drug and contact your doctor immediately.

Clindasol 1% Cream Precautions:

Clindasol has not been proven to be safe for pregnant or nursing mothers. Clindamycin easily crosses the placental barrier, potentially affecting your unborn child. It is not known if topical clindamycin is secreted into breast milk. Clindamycin is not recommended for patients with a history of previous regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis, spastic colitis or any other form of chronic or recurrent diarrhea.
