Fibristal Information:

Fibristal (Generic name: Ulipristal Acetate) is used to treat moderate to severe signs and symptoms of uterine fibroids in adult women of reproductive age who are eligible for surgery. The duration of treatment is limited to 3 months. Ulipristal Acetate belongs to the class of medications called selective progesterone receptor modulators (SPRM); it works by shrinking fibroids and rapidly controlling the bleeding. Fibristal is manufactured in Canada by Watson Pharma (now Actavis). Fibristal is available in 5 mg strength, 30 tablets per pack. Take Fibristal exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Fibristal Side Effects:

The most common Fibristal side effects are headaches and hot flash. If you are experiencing any severe side effects, or serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing, hives, rash, swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Fibristal Precautions:

Do not take Fibristal if you:

• Are allergic to Ulipristal Acetate or any ingredients in Fibristal medication
• Are pregnancy and breastfeeding
• Have breast/cervical/ovarian/uterine/ cancer
• Have already taken Fibristal for a period of three months

Before taking Fibristal, tell your doctor if you have had any medical history such as asthma, kidney or liver disease, or you are taking any hormonal contraception pills. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Fibristal drug. Especially: carbamazepine or ritonavir (HIV drug), phenytoin (epilepsy drug), rifampicin (antibiotics), St John's wort, etc. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
