Hyzaar Information:

Hyzaar (Generic name: Losartan HCTZ) is a combination medications of Losartan Potassium and Hydrochlorothizide used for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). Losartan Potassium is an angiotensin II blocker that helps to lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. Hydrochlorothizide is a diuretic or water pill that helps control blood pressure by getting rid of excess salt and water. Hyzaar is also used to lower the risk of stroke in certain people with heart disease. Take Hyzaar tablets as prescribed for you.

Hyzaar Side Effects:

The most common side effects of Hyzaar in patients with high blood pressure are abdominal pain, back pain, cough, dizziness, stuffy nose, and tiredness. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, confusion, irregular heartbeat, jaundice, joint pain, seizures, urination problems, or signs of a serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; hives; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Hyzaar Precautions:

Do NOT take Hyzaar oral if you are allergic to Losartan Hydrochlorothizide or sulfa drugs or any of the ingredients in Hyzaar medication. Do NOT take Hyzaar if you become pregnant. Before taking Hyzaar, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as asthma, cholesterol, diabetes, electrolytes, gout, heart disease, kidney or liver disease, low blood pressure, lupus, and etc. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Hyzaar drug, especially of: aspirin or NSAIDs, barbiturates, corticosteroids, digoxin, diuretics, insulin or oral diabetes, lithium, narcotics, potassium supplements, salt substitutes, steroids, and other blood pressure medications.
