Safyral (Generic name: Drospirenone 3 mg/Ethinyl Estradiol 0.03 mg/Levomefolate Calcium 0.451 mg) is a new oral contraceptive (OC) used for birth control. Safyral also raises the folate levels in women who choose to use an oral contraceptive for birth control. Safyral is a combined birth control pill containing a daily dose of folate supplement (levomefolate calcium 0.451 mg), which is a B vitamin. Safyral is approved 99% effective when taken as prescribed.

The most common Safyral side effects are breast tenderness, changes in menstrual periods, headache, irregular uterine bleeding, nausea, and vomiting. If you experience any severe side effects including blood clots, heart disease, stroke, or symptoms of a serious allergic reactions (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Do NOT take Safyral if you are a smoker and over 35 years old. Do NOT take Safyral oral if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
