Asmanex Twisthaler (generic name: Mometasone furoate Inhalation Powder) is a medication for prevention and reduction in the severity of asthma attacks (bronchospasms). It comes in the form of a fine powder, which is rapidly inhaled by the asthma sufferer. Asmanex, a cortisteroid, works by reducing the swelling in the lungs, thereby allowing better airflow and lowering the chances of bronchospasms and asthmatic episodes. Asmanex is not indicated for rapid relief of severe asthma attacks, as it is designed to work slowly over time.
Asmanex side effects include headache, runny nose, sinus pain, sore throat, muscle, joint, or back pain, and nausea or upset stomach. Asmanex may cause serious side effects such as wheezing or breathing problems after using Asmanex, skin rash, bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness, changes in the shape/location of body fat, or worsening asthma symptoms. Call your doctor at once if you experience any of these side effects.
Do not use Asmanex if you are allergic to mometasone or milk proteins.
