Hyzaar (Generic name: Losartan HCTZ) is a combination medications of Losartan Potassium and Hydrochlorothizide used for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). Losartan Potassium is an angiotensin II blocker that helps to lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. Hydrochlorothizide is a diuretic or water pill that helps control blood pressure by getting rid of excess salt and water. The most common side effects of Hyzaar in patients with high blood pressure are abdominal pain, back pain, cough, dizziness, stuffy nose, and tiredness. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, confusion, irregular heartbeat, jaundice, joint pain, seizures, urination problems, or signs of a serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; hives; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
