Acarizax Information
Acarizax (Standardized Allergen Extract HDM) is used for the treatment of allergic rhinitis and allergic asthma induced by house dust mite in patients who continue to have persistent symptoms despite being on standard therapies. This condition, which may include symptoms of allergic rhinitis (like a perpetually runny or stuffy nose) or allergic asthma (wheezing, cough, breathing difficulties), occurs when the immune system mistakenly identifies proteins in dust mite feces as a threat. Its active ingredient is a standardized allergen extract derived from two everyday dust mite species, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides farinae. It belongs to the class of allergen immunotherapies. Not only does this allergen extract manage the symptoms, it also gradually desensitises the body to the allergens. When you place this medication under the tongue, your body is exposed to a controlled, tiny dose of the allergen. Over time, this process encourages your immune system to build a tolerance, thereby reducing the severity of allergic reactions and the need for other symptom-relieving medications. This long-term approach aims to modify the disease at its root as it helps the body curb its hyper-reactive response to dust mites. Studies have shown that Acarizax significantly reduces allergic rhinitis and asthmatic symptoms in patients with house dust mite allergies.
