Aciphex Information:

Aciphex (Generic name: Rabeprazole Sodium) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat ulcers, acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, or Zollinger-Ellison syndrome in adults and adolescents 12 years and above. Rabeprazole Sodium works by blocking the acid production in the stomach. Decreasing excess stomach acid can help relieve symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, persistent cough, and trouble sleeping. Rabeprazole can also prevent serious acid damage to your digestive system (e.g., ulcers, cancer of the esophagus). Aciphex may also be used in combination with antibiotics to treat certain types of ulcers caused by bacterial infection. Take Aciphex exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Aciphex Side Effects:

The most common Aciphex side effects are headache, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, rash and vomiting. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as trouble breathing, muscle pain, unusual weakness, itching or swelling, please inform your doctor immediately.

Aciphex Precautions:

Do NOT take Aciphex if you are allergic to Rabeprazole or any other Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) medicine. Before taking Aciphex oral, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as severe liver disease, heart failure or stomach problems. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Aciphex drug, especially of: atazanavir, cyclosporine, digoxin, ketoconazole, warfarin and antibiotics. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
