Albuterol Information

Albuterol (Also known as Salmeterol, or Ventolin) is used to prevent and treat wheezing and shortness of breath caused by breathing problems (e.g., asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD). Albuterol is also used to prevent asthma brought on by exercise. Albuterol belongs to a class of drugs known as bronchodilators. It works by relaxing muscles in the airways to increase air flow to the lungs for better breathing. Use Albuterol exactly as it was prescribed for you.

The most common Albuterol side effects are nervousness, shakiness, dizziness, headache, nausea, increased or decreased appetite. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, fever, irregular heartbeats, or a sign of allergic reactions (e.g., difficulty breathing; hives; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

It is important to keep Albuterol inhalation on hand at all times. Get your prescription refilled before you run out of medicine completely. Do NOT use Albuterol medication if you are allergic to Albuterol sulfate. Before using Albuterol nebulizer, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, a seizure disorder, diabetes, or overactive thyroid. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
