Apoquel Information
Apoquel (Oclacitinib) is used to control itching associated with allergic dermatitis from fleas, food, or contact allergens in dogs. It provides rapid relief, often starting to relieve the itch within 4 hours. Janus Kinase (JAK) inhibitors like Oclactinib selectively inhibit Janus Kinase (JAK) enzymes, particularly JAK1, which play a central role in the signaling of cytokines involved in itch and inflammation. By blocking these signals, Apoquel rapidly reduces itching and inflammation associated with allergic skin conditions.
Apoquel Side Effects
The most common side effects of Apoquel may include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, increased thirst, and appetite loss. Call your veterinarian right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Respiratory infections;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as severe vomiting, difficulty breathing, or facial swelling;
• Skin infections
