Astelin Nasal Spray Information:

Astelin (Generic name: Azelastine Hydrochloride Nasal Spray) is the first prescription antihistamine nasal spray approved to treat symptoms caused by both seasonal allergens and environmental irritants for adults and adolescents 12 and older. Azelastine HCl works by blocking the action of histamine and other substances produced by the body, which are causing your allergies. Azelastine nasal spray is used for the relief of hay fever symptoms such as itchy, runny nose and sneezing, and can also be used to relieve cases of congested, runny nose and postnasal drip unrelated to allergies. Use Astelin nasal spray exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Astelin Nasal Spray Side Effects:

The most common Astelin side effects are bitter taste, drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, insomnia, nasal burning, sneezing, and sore throat. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as anxiety, chest pain, mood changes, muscle pain, numbness, vision changes, weight gain, or signs of a serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Astelin Nasal Spray Precautions:

Do NOT use Astelin sprays if you are allergic to Azelastine or any of the ingredients in Astelin medication. Before using Astelin nasal spray, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions, especially of: allergies, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney or liver disease, and etc. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Astelin drug, especially of: antidepressants, antihistamines, anti-psychiatric, cimetidine, drugs for anxiety, narcotic pain relievers, sleep medicines, sedatives, tranquilizers, and etc.

Astelin antihistamine is supplied in 137 mcg 0.1% of Azelastine Hydrochloride in a metered-spray solution.
