Avamys Information
Avamys (Fluticasone Furoate) is used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. In this condition, the lining of the nose becomes inflamed due to allergens such as pollen, dust mites, or pet dander. Avamys is typically used for both seasonal and perennial allergies. Fluticasone may also be used to treat chronic rhinosinusitis with or without nasal polyps. It is used to reduce nasal itching, a runny nose, sneezing, and other inflammatory symptoms associated with these conditions. The active ingredient is fluticasone furoate, a type of corticosteroid drug. Fluticasone works by blocking the body's release of inflammatory chemicals that are triggered by the allergic reaction. Suppressing this underlying inflammation effectively reduces the swelling and irritation in the nasal tissues, which in turn provides relief from both the nasal and ocular symptoms associated with the allergy. Fluticasone furoate has been shown in multiple randomized controlled trials to significantly reduce nasal and eye symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis versus placebo; symptom improvement often begins within the first 8–24 hours and continues to increase over several days.
