Benzamycin Information

Benzamycin (Benzoyl peroxide/ Erythromycin) is used to treat moderate acne. Acne is a common skin condition that happens when the hair follicles under the skin become clogged. Sebum and dead skin cells clog the pores, leading to outbreaks of lesions, also known as pimples. Macrolide antibiotics like Erythromycin work by stopping the growth of acne-causing bacteria. Topical antibiotics like Benzoyl peroxide work by killing acne-causing bacteria and causing the top layer of the skin to dry and peel off so that new skin can form. Benzamycin also contains alcohol, which helps dry extra oils from the skin.

Benzamycin Side Effects

The most common side effects of Benzamycin may include mild dryness; mild peeling of the top layer of the skin; skin irritation or redness; skin discoloration; Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Areas of hypo/hyper pigmentation on the face;
• Peeling of your skin;
• Swelling of the face or nose;
• Worsening of your acne
