Betamethasone is a potent synthetic corticosteroid that belongs to the glucocorticoid class of drugs. It is used to treat a wide range of inflammatory, allergic, and autoimmune conditions. Betamethasone Tablets Side Effects

The side effects of betamethasone tablets are often more significant than with topical or inhaled corticosteroids due to their systemic absorption. The frequency and severity of side effects are highly dependent on the dose, duration of treatment, and individual patient factors. Short-term use may lead to mild side effects, such as increased appetite, weight gain, fluid retention, and mood swings. Long-term use or high doses can result in more serious adverse effects.

Betamethasone Tablets Precautions

Betamethasone can interact with numerous other medications. It can increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding when taken with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It can reduce the effectiveness of blood thinners and antidiabetic drugs. Patients should not receive live or live-attenuated vaccines while on immunosuppressive doses of corticosteroids.
