Beyaz Information
Beyaz (Drospirenone/Ethinyl Estradiol/Levomefolate Calcium) is a combined oral contraceptive pill, which is primarily used to prevent pregnancy. It is also used to treat acne vulgaris in women who also choose to have combined oral contraceptives as their method of birth control. Beyaz may also be used to treat symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder, a severe form of premenstrual syndrome characterized by intense mood swings, irritability, depression, anxiety, and physical symptoms that significantly disrupt daily life. It contains three active ingredients: drospirenone (a progestin), ethinyl estradiol (an estrogen), and levomefolate calcium (a form of folate). As an oral contraceptive, Beyaz works by regulating hormones to prevent ovulation. It also thickens cervical mucus to impede sperm, and thins the uterine lining to prevent implantation. Drospirenone offers anti-androgenic effects, which help reduce sebum (oil) production, addressing moderate acne (a skin condition caused by clogged pores and excess oil). Beyaz helps manage premenstrual dysphoric disorder by stabilizing hormone fluctuations that contribute to these debilitating symptoms. Additionally, the inclusion of levomefolate calcium, a form of folic acid, helps to maintain adequate folate levels. This essential vitamin is important for women of childbearing potential, as sufficient folate intake before and during early pregnancy can significantly reduce the risk of neural tube defects in case of an unintended pregnancy. While this medicine is highly effective in preventing pregnancy, it cannot prevent sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS. It is advisable to use condoms with this birth control pill.

Beyaz may interact with other drugs or substances, such as aspirin, antiviral medications, diuretics, cyclosporine, methotrexate, and rifampin.
