Bryhali Information

Bryhali (Halobetasol) is used to treat inflammation, redness, flaking and itching caused by plaque psoriasis. It is also used for other skin conditions that respond to steroid medication such as eczema, dermatitis, and rash. Bryhali is a very strong and highly potent fluorinated corticosteroid. It is applied to the skin and works by preventing cells from producing inflammation-causing chemicals that are released in response to a variety of different triggers.

Bryhali Side Effects

The common effects of Bryhali may include burning, stinging, itching, pain where the foam was applied, redness or crusting around your hair follicles, stretch marks, and headache. Bryhali may cause serious side effects. Call your doctor at once if you have:
• Blurred vision;
• Eye pain;
• High blood sugar (increased thirst, increased urination, and dry mouth);
• Increased body hair;
• Worsening your skin condition;
• Warmth;
• Weight gain;
• Swelling;
• Severe irritation of any treated skin;
• Sexual changes;
• Thinning or discolored skin.

Bryhali Precautions

Before using Bryhali, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other corticosteroids (such as hydrocortisone, or prednisone); or if you have any other allergies. Bryhali may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

Before you start taking this medication, inform your doctor of your medical history especially if you plan to have surgery or if you have:
• Any type of skin infection;
• A skin reaction to any steroid medicine;
• An adrenal gland disorder;
• Certain skin conditions (such as rosacea, and perioral dermatitis);
• High blood sugar level;
• Immune system problems;
• Liver disease;
• Poor blood circulation

Do not use if there is an infection or sore present in the area to be treated. Do not use Bryhali on your face, groin, or underarms (armpits). Do not use more than 50 g of Bryhali in one week and should not be used for more than eight weeks. Do not cover the treated skin area with a bandage or other covering unless your doctor tells you to; covering treated areas can increase the amount of medicine absorbed through your skin and may cause harmful effects. Do not use Bryhali to treat any skin condition that has not been checked by your doctor. Do not use it later for other skin problems unless your doctor tells you to. Avoid using other, creams on the areas you treat with Bryhali unless your doctor tells you to. Inform your doctor or prescriber about all prescription, over-the-counter (non-prescription), herbal medications, and any supplements you are taking.
