Cetrotide Injection SC Information

Cetrotide Injection SC (Cetrorelix Acetate) is used to prevent pre-mature ovulation during fertility treatments. If eggs are released too early, they may not be mature enough for fertilization, or it can disrupt the timing needed for procedures like egg retrieval in IVF (In Vitro Fertilization). Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonists like Cetrorelix acetate work by blocking the action of natural GnRH on the pituitary gland. This leads to the rapid suppression of the production and release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). LH tells the body to ovulate, so when Cetrorelix blocks LH, it prevents ovulation. This makes it possible for your doctor to control when you ovulate to time fertility treatments properly.
