Clarinex and Equivalent
Clarinex (Desloratadine/Aerius)
Generic Equivalent of Clarinex
Clarinex Information
Clarinex (Desloratadine/Aerius) is used to treat allergic conditions, including allergic rhinitis, a seasonal or year round allergic condition where your nose gets irritated by something you're allergic to, like pollen or dust mites, leading to symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and nose itching. Clarinex is also used to treat acute or chronic urticaria, a skin condition where itchy, raised, red welts (wheals) appear on the skin, occuring in response to an allergy or even without any known cause. It is used to relieve allergy symptoms, such as hives, body itching, sneezing, a runny nose, allergic cough and other symptoms associated with these allergic conditions. Its active ingredient, desloratadine, belongs to the class of drugs known as second-generation antihistamines. Being an antihistamine, it works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that plays a key role in these allergic conditions. By blocking histamine receptors, desloratadine helps alleviate allergic conditions and related symptoms. Also, unlike some other antihistamines, it rarely crosses the blood-brain barrier, making it less likely to cause drowsiness.
