Credelio Information

Credelio (Lotilaner) is used to adult fleas in dogs and puppies at least 8 weeks old and weighing a minimum of 4.4 lbs (1.4 kg). The drug is also used to control tick infestations. Flea infestations can cause symptoms such as excessive scratching, red bumps, hair loss, and flea dirt on the fur. Tick infestations include symptoms such as inflammation, lethargy, appetite loss, and visible ticks attached to the skin. Isoxazoline insecticides like Lotilaner interfere with the parasite’s nervous system, causing their paralysis and death.

Credelio Side Effects

The most common side effects of Credelio may include appetite loss, diarrhea, hyperactivity, lethargy, and vomiting. Call your veterinarian right away if your dog has any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Signs of neurologic adverse reaction, including tremors, ataxia, and seizures

Credelio Precautions

Do not administer Credelio if your dog is allergic to Lotilaner or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start giving your dog this medication, tell your veterinarian about your dog’s medical history, including if it has a history of seizures or neurologic disorders, is pregnant, breeding, or lactating. Tell your veterinarian about all your dog’s medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Credelio and other medications. Do not administer Credelio if your dog is pregnant, breeding, or lactating. It is unknown if Credelio is safe for use in pregnant, breeding, or lactating dogs.

Administer this medicine exactly as prescribed by your veterinarian. Credelio comes as a chewable tablet. Give this drug to your dog by mouth and ensure it takes the complete dose. Credelio can be used at any time of the year. You can also administer this medicine all year round. However, it is best to start treating your dog with Credelio a month before fleas become active and continue monthly treatment through the end of the flea season. To reduce the risk of re-infestation, treating other household pets with an approved flea protection product is best. Do not use Credelio for other animals. The drug is for dogs and puppies at least 8 weeks old and weighing more than 4.4. lbs (1.4 kg). Do not take this drug. It is not approved for human use. Wash your hands immediately after administering this medicine to your dog. Store Credelio at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
