Cystoplus Information

Cystoplus (Sodium Citrate Powder) is used to relieve symptoms of cystitis. Cystitis is a form of urinary tract infection in women, with symptoms such as burning and stinging. This infection is usually caused by bacteria such as E. coli that enter the bladder through the urethra. Alkalizing agents like sodium citrate decrease urine acidity and reduce the burning pain and stinging associated with cystitis.

Cystoplus Side Effects

The most common side effects of Cystoplus may include flatulence, frequent urination, headache, and stomach pain. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Muscle spasms;
• Seizures;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, breathing difficulties, or itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat

Cystoplus Precautions

Do not use Cystoplus if you are allergic to Sodium Citrate Powder or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have Heart disease, Diabetes, Kidney disease, High blood pressure, A low-sodium diet, think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Cystoplus and other medications, such as ACE inhibitors, diuretics, cyclosporin, etc. Do not use Cystoplus if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. This drug should only be used in pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. Cystoplus contains sodium and may worsen high blood pressure during pregnancy. Do not use Cystoplus while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. It is not known if Sodium Citrate Powder passes into breastmilk or if it may harm nursing infants. It is not known if this drug is safe for use in children below 18 years of age. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Cystoplus comes in sachets. Dissolve the contents of 1 sachet in a glass of water and drink it. You can use cold water or juice to dissolve the drug. Refrigerating the mixture before drinking may improve its taste. Drink more water or juice after drinking the mixture. Do this three times a day for two days. You can take this drug after a meal to prevent diarrhea and stomach upset. You may need to test your urine's pH (acidity) while using this drug. The pH will help determine the proper dose. You can use a special paper to check the pH of your urine. Store this medication at room temperature, away from light, heat, and moisture. Keep it out of the reach of children.
