DDAVP Information:

DDAVP (Generic name: Desmopressin Acetate) is a prescription medication used to control central diabetes insipidus, a condition that the kidneys are unable to conserve water due to a lack of antidiuretc hormone (ADH). This condition causes frequent urination and thirst. DDAVP is also used for the management of bed wetting. DDAVP contains the active ingredient Desmopressin, which is a drug used to regulate urine production. It works by acting on the kidneys to reduce the amount of urine they produce. Do not stop taking DDAVP medication without consulting your doctor. Take DDAVP tablets exactly as it was prescribed.

DDAVP Side Effects:

The most common DDAVP side effects include abdominal pain, flushing, headache, nausea, or stomach pain. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as confusion, fast heartbeat, seizures, weight gain, vision problems or serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing, hives, itching, rash, swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

DDAVP Precautions:

Do NOT take DDAVP if you are allergic to Desmopressin or any of the ingredients in DDAVP medication. Do NOT take DDAVP oral if you have had any medical conditions such as blood clotting disorders (haemophilia or von Willebrand’s disease), heart failure, high blood pressure, kidney or liver disease, or low blood sodium levels. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use, especially of beta-blockers. They may interact with DDAVP drug, especially of: carbamazepine, chlorpromazine, diuretics, NSAIDs, seizure drugs, tricyclic antidepressants, and etc.
