Derma Smoothe FS (Fluocinolone acetonide) treats eczema in adults and children at least 3 months old. Eczema or dermatitis is a skin condition that causes red, irritated, and itchy skin. The symptoms of this condition can flare up if you come in contact with an irritant or an allergen. Although eczema has no cure, treatment can help you manage your symptoms. Derma Smoothe FS scalp oil is used to treat scalp psoriasis in adults. Scalp psoriasis results from an immune system malfunction, where skin cells grow too quickly, resulting in red, scaly patches on the scalp. Topical corticosteroids like Fluocinolone acetonide work by activating natural substances in the skin to reduce inflammation.

Derma Smoothe FS Side Effects

The most common side effects of Derma Smoothe FS may include stinging, burning, dryness, or irritation at the application site, excessive hair growth, skin thinning, and stretch marks. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Increased thirst or urination;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, breathing difficulties, itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat;

Derma Smoothe FS Precautions

Do not use Derma Smoothe FS if you are allergic to Fluocinolone acetonide or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have a peanut oil allergy, skin infection in the area to be treated, have skin changes related to tuberculosis infection, syphilis, or vaccination, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Derma Smoothe FS and other medications, such as aldesleukin, deferasirox, hyaluronidase, topical corticosteroids, other topical medications, etc. Do not use Derma Smoothe FS if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. It is unknown if this medicine will harm an unborn baby. Discuss the benefits and risks of using this drug in pregnancy with your doctor. Do not use Derma Smoothe FS while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. It is unknown if Fluocinolone acetonide passes into breast milk when applied to the skin. However, corticosteroids can cause side effects like slowed growth and development in infants. Discuss the benefits and risks of using this medication when breastfeeding with your doctor. Derma Smoothe FS eczema oil may be used in children as young as 3 months old to treat eczema.

However, the safety and effectiveness of the scalp oil in children has not been established. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Derma Smoothe FS comes in as body oil and scalp oil. The body oil is a topical medication and should only be used on the skin. However, please do not use it on the face, groin, or underarms unless directed by your doctor. Do not apply this drug to the diaper area. Shake the oil well before each use. Wash and dry your hands before applying the medication. Clean and dry the affected area. Apply a thin film of Derma Smoothe FS oil to the affected area and gently rub it in, usually 3 times daily. Do not bandage, cover, or wrap the treated area unless your doctor tells you to. Wet your hair and scalp thoroughly before applying the drug if you are using the scalp oil. Apply a thin film to your scalp and massage well. Cover the scalp with the provided shower cap for at least 4 hours or overnight. Wash off the medication with regular shampoo and rinse well. Wash your hands after applying the medication. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. If the medication gets into these areas, rinse with plenty of water. Use Derma Smoothe FS only for the condition it was prescribed. Do not use this medication or other corticosteroids for longer than prescribed. Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. Tell your doctor if your condition lasts or worsens after 2 weeks. Store Derma Smoothe FS at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Do not freeze. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
