Dermatix Scar Gel Information

Dermatix Scar Gel is used to soften, flatten, and improve the appearance of scars, particularly raised scars such as hypertrophic scars and keloids that can form after surgery, burns, cuts, or other skin injuries. Its active ingredients are silicones, such as polysiloxane, and in some formulations, like Dermatix Ultra, a vitamin C ester. Scars form when the skin heals with abnormal collagen production, leading to thick, raised, or discolored tissue that can be both cosmetically concerning and physically uncomfortable. Dermatix Scar Gel works by forming a protective, semi-permeable film over the scar. This barrier helps to regulate the moisture balance in the skin, which is crucial because excessive water loss can trigger an overactive collagen response, leading to a raised, discolored scar. By creating this ideal environment, the gel normalizes collagen production, ultimately leading to a flatter, softer, and less noticeable scar. The vitamin C ester in Dermatix Scar Ultra Gel is an antioxidant that may also help lighten the scar's hyperpigmentation. Dermatix Scar Gel is suitable for both old and new scars, safe for children and adults, and often recommended for long-term use to maximize results. Consistent use for at least two months can make scars less noticeable and more flexible, restoring skin confidence and comfort.

Dermatix Scar Gel Precautions

Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to silicone-based treatments, synthetic vitamin C, the inactive ingredients in this topical medication, or any other medicine. Do not apply this topical medicine to open wounds. You should only use it after the wound has fully closed and is no longer raw. Please avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, mucous membranes, or inside the nose, as it is not designed for those sensitive surfaces. Dermatix Scar Gel is generally safe for use in adults and children 6 months or older. It is also safe for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Do not expose the applied scar area to extreme temperatures and intense sunlight. Also, do not apply Dermatix Scar Gel over antibiotic preparations or other topical treatments or products. Inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines, including other topical medications, that you are using before applying this Gel to prevent potential drug interactions.

To use Dermatix Scar Gel, clean and dry the affected area first. Apply a thin layer of the gel directly on the scar twice daily, in the morning and evening, as stated in the medication pack. Spread it evenly and allow it to dry for about four to five minutes before covering with clothing or applying makeup. Use it continuously for at least two months, and keep going longer if the scar is large or thick. Store the medication in a cool and dry place and keep it away from children and pets.
