Diovan HCT Information:

Diovan HCT (Generic name: Valsartan and Hydrochlorothiazide) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Diovan HCT is a combination of two medications: Valsartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. Valsartan belongs to a class of drugs called Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers and helps to lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a family of medications known as diuretics or "water pills" and helps control blood pressure by getting rid of excess salt and water. High blood pressure reduction helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Diovan HCT may also be used to treat heart failure and to help protect the kidneys from damage due to diabetes. Take Diovan HCT tablets as prescribed for you.

Diovan HCT Side Effects:

The most common Diovan HCT side effects are back pain, cough, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, sore throat, stuffy nose, tiredness, and etc. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as dry mouth, fainting, irregular heartbeat, jaundice, muscle pain, nervousness, seizure, urination problem, or signs of a serious allergic reaction (e.g., chest pain; difficult breathing; hives; itching; rash; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat), please inform your doctor immediately.

Diovan HCT Precautions:

Do NOT take Diovan HCT oral if you are allergic to Valsartan, Hydrochlorothiazide, or to any ingredients of Diovan HCT medication. Before taking Diovan HCT, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as allergies, asthma, cholesterol, diabetes, electrolytes, gout, kidney or liver problem, low blood pressure, or lupus. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Diovan HCT drug, especially of: aspirin or NSAIDS, celecoxib, cholestyramine, diuretics, insulin or diabetes medications, lithium, muscle relaxer, narcotic, rifampin, valdecoxib, and other blood pressure medications. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
