Durolane Syringe Information

Durolane Syringe (Hyaluronic Acid) is Durolane is used to treat knee pain caused by osteoarthritis of the knee in patients who have failed to respond adequately to conservative non-pharmacological therapy or simple analgesics, e.g., acetaminophen. Durolane is similar to the fluid that surrounds the joints in your body. This fluid acts as a lubricant and shock absorber for the joints.

Durolane Syringe Side Effects

The most common side effects of Durolane Syringe may include warmth, pain, redness, stiffness, bruising, or puffiness where the medicine was injected; nausea, stomach pain; trouble walking; swelling in your hands or feet; back pain, joint pain, muscle pain; numbness or tingly feeling; headache, dizziness; or runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Severe pain or swelling around the knee after the injection.

Durolane Syringe Precautions

Do not use Durolane Syringe if you are allergic to Hyaluronic Acid or to any other ingredients in this medication or if you have an infection in your knee or in the skin around your knee. Durolane is not approved for use by anyone younger than 21 years old. Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you blood clots or circulation problems in your legs or if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Durolane Syringe and other medications. To prevent pain and swelling, your doctor may recommend resting your knee or applying ice for a short time after your injection. For at least 48 hours after your injection, avoid jogging, strenuous activity, or high-impact sports such as soccer or tennis. Also avoid weight-bearing activity or standing for longer than 1 hour at a time.
