Femoston Information

Femoston (Dydrogesterone/Estradiol Hemihydrate) is used to relieve symptoms of menopause. Menopause can cause symptoms like hot flashes due to the drop in the amount of estrogen your body produces. The drug is also used to prevent osteoporosis after menopause. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), like Femoston, contains two types of female hormones – Dydrogesterone and Estradiol Hemihydrate. It works by replacing the estrogen and progesterone in the body to relieve symptoms of menopause. This drug is for use in postmenopausal women for at least 6 months since last menses. Women who require estrogen replacement and have not had their wombs removed can also use HRT.

Femoston Side Effects

The most common side effects of Femoston may include headache, abdominal pain, breast tenderness, back pain, and feeling sick. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Heart attack;
• Heavy or painful genital bleeding;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, breathing difficulties, or itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat

Femoston Precautions

Do not use Femoston if you are allergic to Dydrogesterone, Estradiol Hemihydrate, or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have or have ever had breast cancer; have unexplained vaginal bleeding; have a history of blood clots in a vein; have liver disease; have an intolerance to some sugars; have untreated endometrial hyperplasia; think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant; are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Femoston and other medications, like phenytoin, rifampicin, efavirenz, St. John’s wort, and lamotrigine. Do not use Femoston if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. Taking this during pregnancy can harm your unborn baby. Femoston is for use in menopausal women. Do not use Femoston while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor.
