Galvus Information:

Galvus (Generic name: Vildagliptin) is a new oral anti-diabetic medicine prescribed to help manage blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Vildagliptin belongs to a new class of diabetes medication, called DPP 4 Inhibitors (Dipeptidyl Peptidase IV inhibitors or “incretin enhancers”). DPP 4 Inhibitor improves the glycemic control to lower the glucose levels with type 2 diabetes. It works more effectiveness that can be used either alone or in conjunction with other diabetes medications. Taking Galvus along with diet and exercise allows the body to produce proper amount of insulin to lower blood sugars without causing hypoglycaemia. Take Galvus exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Galvus Side Effects:

Galvus is generally well tolerated. The most common Galvus side effects are abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, nausea, and tremor. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as anxiety, depression, joint pain, stomach pain, or serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; hives; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Galvus Precautions:

Do NOT take Galvus if you are allergic to Vildagliptin or any of the ingredients in Galvus medication. Before taking Galvus oral, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as congestive heart failure, low blood sugar, reduced kidney or liver function, type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions or over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Galvus drug, especially of: beta agonists, corticosteroids, levothyroxine, and thiazide diuretics.
