Glucovance (Generic name: Sulfonylurea and Metformin Hydrochloride, Glyburide and Metformin HCl) is an oral anti-diabetic medication used in the management of type 2 diabetes. Glucovance is a combination of two types of antihyperglycemic drugs. It is used along with a diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in patients with non insulin dependent diabetes. Take Glucovance exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Glucovance Side Effects:

The most common Glucovance side effects are diarrhea, headache, nausea, stomach upset, and vomiting. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as easy bruising, coma, confusion, fainting, fever, jaundice, sweating, tremor, urination problems, or a sign of allergic reactions (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling) please inform your doctor immediately.

Glucovance Precautions:

Do NOT take Glucovance if you are allergic to Glyburide or Metformin HCl or any of the ingredients in Glucovance medication. Before taking Glucovance oral, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as any infections, blood or circulation problems, congestive heart failure or stroke, dehydration, diabetic ketoacidosis, electrolyte imbalance, fertility problems, kidney or liver disease. They may interact with Glucovance drug, especially of: diuretics, birth control and hormone pills, diet pills, phenothiazines, seizure medicines, steroids, and thyroid medicine.
