Heptral Information

Heptral (Ademetionine) is used to treat liver disease. Liver disease refers to any condition affecting the liver. These conditions may develop for different reasons, but they can all damage your liver and affect its function. The drug is also used with other antidepressants to treat depression. The drug may also reduce pain and improve function in people with osteoarthritis. Amino acid derivatives, like Ademetionine, balance the brain's production of neurotransmitters (serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine). It also aids the production of Glutathione, protecting the cells from oxidative stress and damage.

The most common side effects of Heptral may include nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, itching, and insomnia. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, breathing difficulties, itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat;
• Signs of serotonin syndrome, such as agitation, fever, sweating, muscle rigidity
