Jentadueto Information
Jentadueto (Linagliptin/Metformin) controls blood sugar levels in adults with Type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes happens when your body can’t use insulin properly. Without treatment, this condition can cause various health problems, like heart disease, kidney disease, and stroke. Although there is no cure for type 2 diabetes, you can manage the condition by making lifestyle changes and taking medications. This drug is used in combination with diet and exercise to control diabetes. Jentadueto will only treat type 2 diabetes. The drug is not for type 1 diabetes. Jentadueto contains two active ingredients. DPP-4 inhibitors like Linagliptin increase hormones that stimulate the pancreas to produce insulin and the liver to produce less glucose. Biguanides like Metformin reduce the amount of glucose in the blood and improve insulin sensitivity.

Discuss the benefits and risks of using this drug in pregnancy with your doctor. Do not use Jentadueto while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. It is unknown if Linagliptin passes into breast milk or if it may harm a nursing infant. Metformin passes into breast milk in small amounts but should not harm a nursing infant. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Jentadueto comes as a tablet. Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, chew, or break it. Take this drug with a meal unless your doctor tells you otherwise. After using this drug, you may experience signs of low blood sugar such as feeling hungry, dizzy, irritable, confused, shaky, or anxious. Take a fast-acting source of sugar like hard candy, fruit juice, or raisins to quickly treat hypoglycemia. In severe cases of low blood sugar, your doctor will prescribe a glucagon injection kit. Ensure your family or close friends know how to administer this injection in an emergency. Blood sugar levels can be affected by stress, illness, surgery, exercise, alcohol use, or skipping meals. Ask your doctor before changing your dose or medication schedule. Jentadueto is only part of a complete treatment program that may also include diet, exercise, weight control, blood sugar testing, and special medical care. Avoid drinking alcohol.
