Jorveza Information

Jorveza (Budesonide Orodispersible Tablet) is a prescription medication used to treat adults with eosinophilic oesophagitis, an inflammation of the passage that leads from the mouth to the stomach. This causes symptoms such as difficulty swallowing and blockage of the oesophagus. Budesonide is a corticosteroid medication and helps reduce inflammation by attaching to immune cell receptors and reducing the release of substance that cause inflammation. After Jorveza dissolves in the mouth, the saliva carries it to the oesophagus where it reduces the inflammation and relieves the symptoms of eosinophilic oesophagitis.

Jorveza Side Effects

The most common side effects of Jorveza may include decreased amount of the hormone cortisol in your blood, fungal infections in the mouth, headache, heartburn, indigestion, nausea, tingling or numbness in your mouth, and tiredness. Seek emergency medical help if you experience any serious side effects or an allergic reaction.

Jorveza Precautions

You should not take Jorveza if you are allergic to Budesonide or if you have active tuberculosis, or uncontrolled infections. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history such as any allergies, diabetes, eye problems, high blood pressure, liver or kidney disease, osteoporosis, and tuberculosis. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Jorveza and other medications such as clarithromycin, ritonavir and cobicistat, oestrogen, cardiac glycosides, CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole or itraconazole), and diuretics. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
