Kazano Information

Kazano (Alogliptin/Metformin) is used in conjunction with a healthy diet and lifestyle modifications to control blood sugar in individuals living with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is typically used in individuals who do not achieve adequate glucose control with diet, exercise, and metformin or alogliptin alone. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition where the body either doesn't produce enough insulin or doesn't use insulin effectively, leading to elevated blood sugar (glucose) levels. Managing blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes is essential to prevent long-term complications such as heart disease, kidney failure, nerve damage, and vision loss. The active ingredients in Kazano are alogliptin and metformin. Alogliptin belongs to the drug class of Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors, while metformin is a biguanide. Alogliptin inhibits the DPP-4 enzyme, which usually breaks down incretin hormones (like GLP-1 and GIP). By preventing this breakdown, alogliptin increases the levels of active incretin in the body. These incretins stimulate the pancreas to release more insulin when blood sugar levels are high and reduce the amount of sugar produced by the liver, thereby lowering blood glucose. Metformin, in turn, reduces glucose production by the liver, decreases the absorption of glucose from the gut, and enhances the body's sensitivity to insulin, helping cells absorb more glucose from the bloodstream.
