Levaquin Information:

Levaquin (Generic name: Levofloxacin) is an antibiotic prescription drug used to treat certain bacterial infections of the bladder, kidney, lung, prostate, sinus, and skin. Levofloxacin belongs to a class of drugs called quinolone antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Levofloxacin will NOT work for viral infections such as common cold & flu. Take Levaquin tablets exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Levaquin Side Effects:

The most common Levaquin side effects are constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, nausea, stomach upset, vaginal itching or discharge. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, confusion, depression, easy bruising or bleeding, fever, jaundice, numbness, seizures, or symptoms of a serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Levaquin Precautions:

Do not take Levaquin if you are allergic to Levofloxacin or any of the ingredients in Levaquin medication. Before taking Levaquin oral, tell your doctor if have had any medical conditions, especially of: diabetes, heart problems, low levels of potassium (hypokalemia), joint problems, kidney or liver disease, myasthenia gravis, seizures or liver disease. Avoid exposure to sunlight and use a sunscreen when outdoor. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Levaquin drug, especially of: diabetes medications or insulin, NSAIDs, oral steroid meds, warfarin, supplements and vitamins contain iron or zinc.
