Lidoderm Patch Information:

Lidoderm (Generic name: Lidocaine Patch 5%), a local anesthetic medication, is available in patch form used to relief pain associated with shingles (infection with the herpes zoster virus). Lidoderm is the first and only Lidocaine based topical medicine approved by the FDA for after-shingles pain. Lidocaine works by blocking nerve signals in your body. Use Lidoderm alone or with other medicines to treat post-shingles pain. Apply Lidoderm Lidocaine patch only to intact skin with no blisters.

Lidoderm Patch Side Effects:

The most common Lidoderm side effects are blistering, burning, irritation, redness, and skin discoloration at the site of application. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as blurred vision, confusion, nervousness, seizure, tremor, and symptoms of a serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; hives; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Lidoderm Patch Precautions:

Do NOT take Lidoderm oral if you are allergic to Lidocaine topical or any ingredients in Lidoderm medication. Before taking Lidoderm, tell your doctor if you have any medical conditions such as any allergies, liver or kidney disease. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Lidoderm drug, especially of: heart medications.
