Lodoco Information

Lodoco (Colchicine extended release) is used to reduce the risk of serious heart-related and blood vessel problems in people with atherosclerotic disease or with multiple risk factors for heart disease. The drug reduces the risk of myocardial infarction (MI), heart attack, stroke, coronary artery bypass graft, cardiac stenting, and cardiovascular death. Risk factors for heart diseases include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, and second-hand smoke exposure. Anti-inflammatory drugs like Lodoco work by targeting the inflammatory pathways involved in major cardiac events, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Lodoco Side Effects

There may be a drug interaction between Lodoco and other medications like cyclosporine; nefazodone; clarithromycin; ketoconazole; ritonavir; Do not use Lodoco if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. It is not known if this medication will harm your unborn baby. Lodoco may cause fertility problems in males. Inform your doctor if this is a concern for you. Do not use Lodoco while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. Colchicine extended-release may pass into your breastmilk and harm your nursing baby. Do not give this drug to children without talking to your doctor. It may harm them. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop or change the dose of this medicine without talking to your doctor. You can take this drug with or without food. Swallow the tablets whole. Do not crush or chew the tablets. Chewing the extended-release tablet will release all of the drug at once, increasing your risk of side effects. Avoid taking this medication with grapefruit or grapefruit juice. It may increase the side effects of the drug. Lodoco is not a pain medication, and it should not be taken to relieve pain. Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Store Lodoco at room temperature in a dry place.
