Lopressor Information:

Lopressor (Generic name: Metoprolol Tartrate) is a prescription medication used for treating high blood pressure (hypertension) and chest pain (angina caused by lack of oxygen in the heart muscle due to clogged arteries). Lopressor is also used after an acute heart attack to improve survival. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Metoprolol Tartrate is calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing and widening the passage of blood in blood vessels, thus reducing the heart’s workload and increasing the volume of blood pumped by of the heart. Take Metoprolol Lopressor exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Lopressor Side Effects:

The most common Lopressor side effects are diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, trouble sleeping, unusual dreams, vision problems, and vomiting. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as blistering or peeling skin, chest pain, easy bruising or bleeding, fainting, jaundice (yellow eyes or skin), persistent fever, vision changes, or symptoms of an allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing, hives, rash, swelling of the lips, throat or tongue), please inform your doctor immediately.

Lopressor Precautions:

Do NOT take Lopressor oral if you are allergic to Metoprolol Tartrate or other beta blockers. Before taking Lopressor, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as breathing problems, diabetes, heart failure, liver or kidney disease, mental/mood disorders, muscle disease, overactive thyoid disease, and skin conditions. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. Because they may contain ingredients that could increase your blood pressure or heart rate, especially of: alpha-blockers, antidepressants, anti-diabetics, calcium channel blockers, digixin, epinephrine, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), psychiatric drugs, other drugs to treat heart problem, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid disease.
