Lotrel Information:

Lotrel (Generic name: Amlodipine Besylate and Benazepril Hydrochloride) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lotrel medication is a combination of two drugs, a calcium channel blocker (Amlodipine Besylate) and an ACE inhibitor (Benazepril HCl). It works by relaxing blood vessels effectively making them wider. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems. Take Lotrel exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Lotrel Side Effects:

The most common Lotrel side effects are constipation, cough, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, nausea, or vomiting. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, decreased sex ability, fainting, fever, jaundice, urination problems, vision changes, or symptoms of an allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; hives; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Lotrel Precautions:

Do NOT take Lotrel oral if you are allergic to ACE inhibitors of any of the ingredients in Lotrel medication. Before taking Lotrel, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as blood vessel disease, diabetes, heart problems, high blood levels of potassium, liver or kidney disease, and severe dehydration. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. Because they may contain ingredients that could increase your blood pressure or heart rate, especially of: diuretic (water pill), heart drugs, lithium, NSAIDs, potassium supplement, salt substitutes, and other high blood pressure medications. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
